Marriage is a union between one man and one woman. FANH energetically supports the restoration of traditional marriage in the Granite State. We reject out-of-state special interests and the manner in which they purchased New Hampshire’s gay marriage law. The overwhelming majority of social science demonstrates that men, women, and children, not to mention society as a whole, benefit from a stable, two-parent marriage and family.
As a matter of fact, when individuals have been given a voice by referendum in towns all across New Hampshire, they have resoundingly voted to give people the right to statewide vote on the legal definition of marriage by an average margin of 63%-37%. Further, 31 states have enacted constitutional amendments defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman. Most recently, North Carolina passed their Marriage Protection Amendment with 60% of the vote. California passed their Prop 8 constitutional amendment on traditional marriage with 52% of the vote in 2008. In 2009, Maine voters stood for marriage and rejected same-sex marriage legislation with 53% of the vote, and in 2010, Iowa voters rejected three Supreme Court judges who had imposed gay marriage in the state.
FANH is a coalition that unites individual families, church leaders of all denominations, civic and community leaders and political leaders behind a shared initiative to protect, preserve and restore traditional values in New Hampshire.
Families Across New Hampshire (FANH) is a Granite State based advocacy organization dedicated to promoting pro-family public policy.
